Dr. Kaan Kurtural Featured Twice on the Indie Wine Podcast

Dr. Kaan Kurtural, formerly of UC Davis and now producing his own wines, recently participated in two compelling panel discussions featured on the Indie Wine podcast. These episodes capture panels from the inaugural “Unfiltered – Conversations about wine” festival, held at Donkey and Goat on July 26th. The event, created by Jared Brandt and Andrew Sullivan, aims to elevate awareness of local natural and low-intervention winemakers through education and community dialogue.

Dr. Kurtural’s unique perspective as both former researcher and current producer brings valuable insights to two critical industry topics. In Episode 86, he joins the “Adaptation” panel exploring whether natural winemaking can remain sustainable as climate change intensifies, discussing everything from vineyard management to varietal selection. Episode 87 features the “Terroir” panel, where he and fellow winemakers tackle the fundamental question of whether terroir is real and tasteable given all the variables in modern winemaking.
